Posted on: 29th May 2024

As our first tradeshow of the year comes to a close, let's reflect on the highlights from PLASA Focus Leeds 2024. This year's event was brimming with exciting new products and innovations. So in no particular order, here are our top picks from the show:

ChamSys

MQ500M+ Lighting Console: The MQ500M+ is an upgraded version of the MQ500M, capable of controlling up to 400 universes of DMX without external processors or hardware. It includes an upgraded processor, built-in Wi-Fi, a gigabit network switch, four gigabit networking ports, and Display++ ports.

GeNetix: GeNetix serves as the midway point between the lighting console and fixtures, comprising of 2-port (GN2), 5-port (GN5), and 10-port (GN10) PoE-capable nodes. These nodes support Art-Net and sACN protocols, meaning they are compatible with any control system and lighting fixture. Also on display was the GS8, a rack-mounted, unmanaged network switch with 8 PoE ports, offering PoE++ on the first four ports and PoE+ on the remaining four. To round out the range were the IP-rated products, including a network switch (GS5IP) and a DMX splitter.

QuickQ/MagicQ DIN: These products bring the QuickQ and MagicQ software to a new form factor for mounting on a DIN rail. This new advancement means that all ChamSys software is now available on desks, rack-mounted units, and DIN rails.

RCF

NXL 14-A: The NXL 14-A is a compact active loudspeaker releasing in the second half of this year. This speaker features two 6” woofers and a 1.75” compression driver, delivering a maximum SPL of 128 dB. It includes top and bottom handles, a rotatable horn adjustable by 90 degrees for use as a stage lip fill, powerCON TRUE1 in and out for mains connection, and input options for both jack and XLR connectors.

SUB-AX Series: The new SUB-AX series subwoofers are made from plywood and stand out with Bluetooth control for DSP settings. Available in black and white, and in 15” and 18” versions, these subwoofers are compatible with the RCF Live Remote App, which auto-calculates the optimal crossover and phase alignment between the subwoofer and any RCF top speaker.

Electro-Voice

EVERSE Series: We explored the latest battery-powered EVERSE series from Electro-Voice, available in 8” and 12” models. These speakers feature built-in DSP, two mic/line inputs, mix out, footswitch control, a charging port, and the capability to power a wireless mic system.
