Video signal converters are used to extend your video signal over longer distances or link between the available inputs/outputs within your video signal chain; from your camera (or media input), to your video mixer, and then to your video display.
For example, HDMI is one of the most commonly known form of video cable but it is only recommended to run up to 20M. For longer distances, you'll need to convert to SDI (100M), Cat-6 (also 100M) or even Fibre (100M - 5KM), and then back to the input at the end of your signal chain.
