Team Leisuretec’s Andy Raises Money for Local Hospice

As well as working away behind to scenes to keep you informed, entertained and up-to-date on everything Leisuretec, our Creative & Design wizard Andy has been putting his creative skills to use during lockdown to raise vital funds for local charity, Keech Hospice. Andy explains, “3 years ago Keech made a world of difference to my family during our darkest time by providing invaluable care for my sister, Sam, during her illness. When I heard that charities like Keech Hospice were struggling for funds during the lockdown, I felt inspired to do something to help support this incredible cause”.
With traditional fundraising almost impossible, Andy combined his passion for badminton with his creative camera skills resulting in the Badminton Coronalympics. Posting to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter Andy aims to complete 16 badminton challenges over 16 days to get people moving, motivated and raise awareness of the amazing work Keech Hospice does. “I've always wanted to do something to give back and I’ve really missed playing during quarantine; since badminton is something Sam's daughter and I love to do together, what better way to dust of the cobwebs and raise some money?” added Andy.
So far, Andy’s challenges have included landing a shuttlecock in a mug, turning off a light switch from across the room and narrowly hitting a shuttle through a tube.
