Today we’re looking at the xVision Converter Series from Theatrixx. This range of video signal converters has been specifically engineered to overcome a whole list of challenges that are often faced by video companies and professionals. Designed by a team of passionate industry experts, these converters are engineered to last. Let’s take a deeper look into them.

Features

Taking a quick look around the converters you can see that they are housed in a 6.35mm robust aluminium chassis. The chassis not only looks sleek but it also protects all components on the unit. As you can see all connections have been recessed, this helps to protect them against any accidental knocks that they might encounter on the road. There are two sizes in the range, the smaller at 180mm tall and 107mm and the larger also at 180mm tall but slightly wider at 221mm.

With over 20 models in the series you would think it might be difficult to differentiate between the different converters, luckily Theatrixx has thought of this and added a colour code to the units. Each converter features two colours, the first is for the input and the second is for the output.

The units are fitted with an M10 mounting point so you have the option to add a C-Clamp to the converter to then mount onto poles and Truss’. There are also multiple strapping points to add the included safety strap to the unit to ensure that the unit is secure and that there is more than one point of contact. You can also use the strap to secure multiple units together.

Taking a closer look at the ports you can see that they feature locking mechanisms for all connections so you’ll be able to rest easy knowing that your cables won’t fall or be tugged out. The locking mechanism also helps to prevent any damage done to the connections as the cables will stay in the correct position and not sag.

The units are conveniently fitted with LED lights. These lights quickly show if the converter has power and what kind of resolution (if any) is being fed into it. This will give the engineer a visual representation of if the cables are working as they should, helping to reduce setup time.

You’ll also notice that these converters feature no dipswitches, buttons or menus, making these units very accessible and intuitive.

Generally, with video converters, you will have an external power supply, this is normally a significantly sized brick which can make the space very cluttered when multiple converters are used in one space. This is not the case with the xVision series as they all feature internal PSU’s, giving you a simple and clean looking setup.

These video converters come fitted with a rubber base, which not only protects surfaces but also ensures that the unit does not fall or slip off of the table, even if you try to slide it, it’s not going anywhere.

And finally, one of the most unique features, they’re magnetic. Each unit is fitted with a magnet so you’re able to stack them up instead of having to balance or tape them up.

The Range

The xVision range features over 20 unique models. These include HDMI, 4K, Fibre and 1:4 Converters, Splitters and De-Embedders.

It’s also important to mention that the whole range of xVision Converters comes in a reversible rackmount module, perfect for those applications that require multiple conversions in a confined space.

Accessories

There are a number of optional accessories that have been designed for both sizes of converter. If you’re looking for some added protection then there are cases specifically designed to fit the units. All cases feature a foam interior. Powerclaw latching system and are IP67 rated to ensure the contents are well protected from whatever it might encounter. The cases can fit up to 3 of the smaller sized converters and up to 2 of the larger ones.

The series also features 2 different sized wallmounts to fit both sizes of the converters. The wallmounts are made out of steel and so the converters magnetically stick to the mounts. Once stuck on, they are then secured in place by a spring-loaded plunger. Both wallmounts also feature built-in retaining ridges to allow the unit to be mounted both horizontally and vertically.
