SnakeSys – More than your ordinary light switch

Posted on: 19th March 2021

For those seeking a simple way to combine control of entertainment and architectural lighting systems, the SnakeSys Control Environment could be an ideal solution. Built to work in tandem with QuickQ and MagicQ systems, the SnakeSys provides users with multiple inputs to remotely control and trigger playback of scenes for multi-zone applications.

Where to use SnakeSys?

Thanks to the seamless integration with QuickQ and MagicQ equipment, SnakeSys can be easily implemented alongside existing ChamSys equipment. This could be part of affixed installation or used as part of a temporary exhibit or installation where house and show lighting playbacks need to be reliably and repeatably controlled without regular need for engineers.

Another key benefit of the SnakeSys Control Environment is the zone playback functionality. For example, in a fixed installation like a ballroom, gym or leisure centre where there are multiple separate rooms or multi-function rooms with air walls, 10Scene plates can be positioned in each zone and programmed to control lighting for specific areas and applications.

The SnakeSys Ecosystem

SnakeSys is made up of several products which work together to create a comprehensive and flexible lighting control solution. Let’s take a look at the different elements of the SnakeSys Control Environment:

10Scene Wall plate

Supplied as double pack with black and white face plates, 10Scene Wall Plates are simple 10 button wall stations which connect directly to QuickQ Rack systems via a 10Scene port or to QuickQ and MagicQ consoles via the 10Scene Gateway Interface. Wall Plates are wired with CAT5 cable and up to 10 units can be daisy-chained on each port, up to 1000m in length total.

10Scene Gateway Interface

To use 10Scene Wall Plates with QuickQ and MagicQ consoles the input signal must be converted from the 10Scene Protocol to the ChamSys Remote Protocol – it is not required for the QuickQ Rack system. The 10Scene Gateway Interface features 2x 10Scene ports for linking up to 20 wall plates and 2 contact triggers or emergency system triggers.

Remote Control App

Free to download on iOS, Android, Mac and Windows, users can remotely control fixtures and the 10Scene products via the MagicQ and QuickQ Remote apps.

A dedicated 10Scene App which restricts control to up to 10 predefined scenes or executable groups for a given zone is coming soon. Useers will not be able to program any lighting design from the 10Scene App.

QuickQ Rack

A slimline rack mountable version of the QuickQ desk with the same operating system as QuickQ series consoles and 10 built-in scene select buttons designed for installation applications. QuickQ Rack is designed to operate as a remote system and features 4x built-in 10Scene ports for direct control via wall plates or remote triggers.

QuickQ Consoles

Designed for entry level users and professionals alike, QuickQ condenses a comprehensive feature set from the larger MagicQ family into a sleek and simple desktop interface. Use the 10Scene Gateway interface to remotely control or trigger playbacks with 10Scene Wall Plates and contact triggers.

MagicQ Consoles

MagicQ is a family of award winning lighting control consoles packed with professional design features for creating complex and stunning shows. Use the 10Scene Gateway interface to remotely control or trigger playbacks with 10Scene Wall Plates and contact triggers.

SnakeSys B4

SnakeSys B4 is designed as a multi-purpose box to be used in places where a small portable Ethernet to DMX conversion solution is required. The SnakeSys B4 supports both Art-Net and ACN Streaming DMX network protocols. The DMX512 ports are fully configurable with DMX packet length, framing rate, and timings.
