Access Audio Visual Upgrade Grahamston Bar in Glasgow

Access Audio Visual (AV) specialise in design, supply, and installation of video and PA solutions. They were tasked with enhancing the audio coverage in the Grahamston Bar of the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow City Centre. The primary goal was to eliminate dead spots in the window area of the bar, allowing for a seamless audio experience. Additionally, the hotel expressed the need for its system to accommodate DJs or singers during events, with a focus on integrating the bar's audio with the hotel's background music system.
Access AV consulted with Leisuretec's technical team to select equipment that could deliver the desired audio quality while meeting the aesthetic requirements. The chosen equipment included Martin Audio CDD8W speakers which were selected for their ability to handle higher Sound Pressure Levels (SPL) during events and their visually appealing design. An SX112W Compact Subwoofer was also integrated to enhance the low-frequency response.
To power the speakers and subwoofer, Access AV used a Crown XLS 1502 amplifier and an Apart Revamp 2250, accompanied with Yamaha’s MG12XUk mixer to integrate background music via Dante, and provide connectivity for external devices such as DJ equipment or instruments.
The four CDD8W speakers were strategically mounted on pillars framing the glass front of the bar area. This arrangement ensured comprehensive coverage, effectively addressing the previously identified dead spots. The Crown XLS 1502 amplifier and Apart Revamp 2250 then drove the speakers and subwoofer, delivering optimal audio performance.
The Yamaha MG12XUk mixer meant DJs or musicians playing one-off events could easily connect their equipment, plus, its user-friendly design meant hotel staff could control the audio environment with ease.
The implemented audio system has more than achieved its objective. The Radisson Blu Hotel's Grahamston Bar now has high-quality audio with improved coverage, eliminating dead spots and providing an enhanced dining experience. The flexibility of the system was demonstrated during events such as New Year celebrations, where the sound could be controlled throughout the night with ease.
