Transforming Lancaster On Ice with CHAUVET, KEF, and Cloud
Innovative Audio Visual (IAV) specialises in providing cutting-edge audio and visual solutions for both domestic and commercial settings. With expertise in custom design, sales, and installations, IAV caters to a wide range of needs, including multi-zone audio systems, network setups, and commercial venue solutions such as PA systems and event lighting. One project was an annual outdoor ice rink event, Lancaster On Ice.
Lancaster On Ice required a comprehensive audio-visual solution to enhance its entertainment experience for the public. The event, held in the city's Dalton Square, needed seamless connectivity to support various needs such as ambient lighting, high-speed point to point network, and background music systems. It all had to be reliable in an outdoor setting.
For the ice rink itself, IAV opted to purchase lighting and speaker systems rather than renting, meaning they had to invest in the right equipment for the job that’d last for years of events to come. They chose eight CHAUVET DJ SlimPAR Pro Q IP65s and eight KEF Ventura 6 IP65 speakers which were strategically positioned around the rink.
“Our decision for these were because of what the SlimPARs are capable of compared to what they cost, which I feel is really good value for money. The KEF speakers were just another perfect choice…” says Glenn Page, Owner of Innovate Audio Visual. The single lighting circuit was split into two via a wireless switching panel, one for the eight SlimPARs and one for four 15000 lumen flood lights to support the rink and surrounding areas.
The audio setup included two additional Cloud MX141M units and a Cloud PM-1 microphone which was used for its easy muting features during announcements. All audio components were meticulously wired and configured at 6ohms per channel for optimal performance, driven by a Lab Gruppen IPD1200 amplifier, also supplied by Leisuretec. The appropriate crossover frequency and limiter settings were saved for the KEF speakers so the same settings could be easily deployed at future events.
The high-quality lighting and audio systems elevated the ambiance of the ice rink arena beautifully. The custom 700 metres of labelled cabling and expert setup facilitated efficient installation and breakdown processes, setting a solid foundation.
Overall, IAV's innovative approach to audiovisual solutions transformed Lancaster On Ice into a standout winter attraction, blending technology seamlessly with the magic of outdoor ice skating and entertainment with professional AV.
