The Biamp BMA 360D is a Dante ceiling tile microphone array designed for modern conferencing environments. Combining beamforming technology, built-in amplification and flexible installation options, it provides a versatile solution for meeting rooms, boardrooms, classrooms and more.
In this blog, we take a closer look at the BMA 360D and explore its key features, connectivity and installation options.
Introducing the Biamp BMA 360D
The BMA 360D is a Dante ceiling tile microphone array designed to work with any Dante-enabled DSP mixer. It’s available in two sizes: a 600 x 600 mm version (BMA 360D-I) designed for UK ceiling tiles and a 24 x 24-inch version for the US market (BMA 360D).

Unlike traditional ceiling microphones that rely on fixed pickup patterns, the BMA 360D uses beamforming technology to actively focus on the people speaking, helping to deliver clearer speech while reducing unwanted room noise.
Each of the microphone’s beamforming zones is transmitted as its own unprocessed Dante audio channel, giving DSPs access to every individual beam. Alongside this is a smart-switched output that automatically selects the best active talker, with built-in processing for echo cancellation, noise reduction and automatic level control.
This gives integrators the option to either fully design and control the DSP processing themselves or rely on a simplified switched output for faster deployment in standard meeting rooms.
The BMA 360D is suited to a wide range of applications, including small meeting rooms, boardrooms, classrooms, courtrooms and lecture halls. Its 12-beam microphone array and advanced features allow it to maintain consistent speech clarity, even in more challenging acoustic environments.
It’s also well suited to voice lift systems and camera tracking when paired with a compatible DSP mixer. This makes it a strong option for more dynamic spaces where participants move around or don’t remain in fixed seating positions, while maintaining reliable intelligibility for both in-room and remote users.
Design and Construction
The BMA 360D comes in a sleek metal finish with a clean, minimal design. On the front, you’ll find four small LEDs indicating mute status.
These LEDs are customisable in the BMA Configuration app, allowing you to match room aesthetics or corporate branding. They can also be switched off completely for a more discreet installation.

The unit is currently available in white, with a black version available soon, making it suitable for modern office designs. The grille can also be painted to match room décor, with Biamp providing guidance on how to do this on its website.
From an installation point of view, this helps the unit blend into the ceiling design rather than becoming visually distracting, which is often a key requirement in corporate meeting spaces.
12-Beam Microphone Array
The BMA 360D features 12 beamforming zones made up of 121 microphone elements. This provides total coverage of up to 58 square metres, making it suitable for larger meeting rooms. If you have an exceptionally large space, additional units can be added to extend coverage further if required.
The system supports ceiling heights from 7 to 20 feet, configurable within the BMA Configuration software.
Biamp’s FiBeam™ and DsBeam™ technologies deliver consistent, frequency-invariant beamforming performance, ensuring natural speech reproduction and uniform gain across all beams.
The software also allows you to use preset beam patterns for common room layouts or create custom beam configurations with adaptive steering to optimise coverage for specific spaces.
This helps standardise performance across different room layouts, which is particularly useful for repeatable deployments where you want consistent results without having to re-engineer each room.
Built-In Amplification
Another standout feature of the BMA 360D is its built-in amplification.
The integrated amplifier receives audio over Dante and can be configured as either four 15-watt channels or two bridged 30-watt channels for loudspeaker support.

If you’re only using the microphone, it requires PoE+, meaning a compatible network switch or device is sufficient. We offer several compatible solutions; contact our team for more information.
If you’re powering loudspeakers directly, the requirement increases to PoE++. In this case, a PoE++ injector or switch is recommended to ensure stable operation.
This makes the BMA 360D a strong option for smaller meeting spaces, as it removes the need for a separate amplifier. For example, you can power two Desono C-IC6 loudspeakers at 30 watts each or four speakers at 15 watts each, making it ideal for background audio in conferencing environments.
This built-in amplification reduces rack space, cabling and overall system complexity, which is a big advantage in smaller meeting rooms where simplicity and speed of installation matter.
Flexible Mounting Options
The BMA 360D offers flexible mounting options to suit a wide range of installations.
It is designed for standard 24 x 24-inch or 600 x 600 mm ceiling grids, with optional surface mounting or recessed mounting.
On the rear of the unit, you’ll find a VESA 100 x 100 mounting pattern, allowing for pole mounting using the supplied bracket.

In addition, there are eight suspension points, making it suitable for open-ceiling environments where traditional ceiling tiles are not available.
This level of flexibility means it can be used across both traditional office builds and more modern open-ceiling designs without needing different hardware variants or workarounds.
Configuration Software and Integration
The BMA 360D is configured using Biamp’s BMA Configuration software, where you can adjust ceiling height, beam behaviour and coverage patterns to suit the installation.
Preset beam patterns are available for common room layouts, along with custom configurations and adaptive steering to optimise performance in more complex spaces.

Like much of Biamp’s portfolio, the BMA 360D continues to receive firmware updates to improve functionality and integration.
It is now officially Microsoft Teams and Zoom certified, ensuring compatibility with both platforms.
The microphone also integrates fully with the Biamp Tesira ecosystem, simplifying system configuration, commissioning and control through native Tesira programming.
Monitoring and management can be handled through Biamp Workplace, while Biamp Workplace Designer allows it to be incorporated into wider room planning workflows.
This keeps everything within a single ecosystem, from design through to deployment and ongoing management, helping to reduce commissioning time and keep systems more consistent across larger installations.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the Biamp BMA 360D combines beamforming microphone technology, built-in amplification, flexible mounting options and deep DSP integration into a single ceiling tile solution.
With its configurable microphone array, integrated processing and compatibility with modern conferencing platforms, it’s a strong choice for a wide range of meeting room and conferencing environments.
