Your Haus or Mine? - A Void Acoustics Case Study
Set in the heart of Cheltenham, Imperial Haus is a boutique cocktail bar with eclectic decor and a vibrant atmosphere to match. Leap Audio were called in to look at the venue's existing audio install with a view to rectifying issues and improving the sound system to bring it on a par with the superior quality of the surroundings and menus.
Timing of the install was of the utmost importance ahead of the Cheltenham Festival as this was their busiest time of the year. From the initial call and quote with Leisuretec and through the order process to speedy delivery and completed install, Imperial Haus was up and running with their brand-new Void sound system in just over seven days!
'In the current climate of long lead times and stock shortages, we think it’s important to maintain large amounts of holding stock across all brands and product ranges. In this case, we had all the Void items in our warehouse and shipped them on our standard next-day delivery, which drastically reduced the project’s time scale,' says Leisuretec Marketing Manager Charlie Henden.
To fit with the venue's aesthetic – all peacock feathers, chandeliers and an enchanted forest backdrop – Leap Audio opted for Void Acoustics' Cyclone 8 and Cyclone 55 range of speakers because of their unique design and overall great quality. The speakers’ wide dispersion meant much more space was covered with fewer boxes, drastically reducing the amount of work needed before the deadline of race week.
Also included in the install, complementing the wall-mounted Cyclones, a Venu 112 V2 subwoofer was placed among the foliage within the bar area to give the illusion of hidden sound. This was achievable due to the compact and unobtrusive nature of the subwoofer, allowing it to be not seen but definitely heard!
Amplification was from a Powersoft Ottocanali DSP amplifier with two Powersoft WM touch wall controllers situated behind each drinks bar for remote control. Custom presets were programmed to allow user-friendly control of selecting sources and volumes, including powering the system off and on.
In addition to the loudspeaker install, DJ input points were also fitted in both downstairs and upstairs rooms, along with inputs for the venue’s media playlists. This allowed mobile DJs to connect straight to the bar’s brand-new sound system without the need to set up their own PA system.
