Hot Dub Time Machine, an iconic dance party at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh, is known for its diverse music lineup spanning every decade and genre. The event organisers approached Catalyst with the task of providing a large-scale LED video wall with 4K infrastructure to enhance the visual experience for attendees. To meet this brief head-on, Catalyst chose a brand known for its high quality and robust equipment – Theatrixx.
The primary challenge was to transmit 4K video signals reliably and efficiently from the front-of-house position to the stage, covering a considerable distance within the venue. In response, the technical team decided to employ Theatrixx 4K HDMI to Fibre converters due to their reputation for excellence in signal conversion and transmission. These converters, known for their reliability and ability to maintain video quality over long distances, perfectly met the project's requirements. Additionally, Theatrixx 4K HDMI distribution amplifier splitters were integrated into the setup to ensure seamless signal distribution to the LED video wall.
Power cables being knocked and pulled out was also a concern because of the size of the event. However, the xVision's built-in PSU and locking connectors allowed Catalyst to simply plug the video converters in and carry on with the rest of the show, ensuring constant power. This combination of equipment created a robust 4K infrastructure for stunning visual displays at Hot Dub Time Machine, enhancing the overall event experience for the audience of music-lovers.
