Website and Design

James Baker

With a First-Class Honours Degree in multimedia computing, James puts his background in IT to great use with his knowledge on our website; populating product information, uploading new content and helping with customer support.

James is also the creative brain behind most of our artwork and graphics you’ll see on our website, marketing emails and other online channels. He also supports with video shoots in the studio and editing video content for our YouTube channel, social media pages and exhibition stands. On top of his creative work, James is also responsible for the mammoth task of keeping our prices up to date across our 80+ brands, making sure that our trade pricing maintains its competitive edge.

When he’s not flexing his creative muscles, James can be found in the gym, playing golf with his friends, or trying to find the next best thing to cook in his air fryer.

What’s behind my top four product picks

  1. FlexPoint FP4 – The amount of volume from such a compact four-inch box is so impressive.
  2. COLORado PXL Curve – It just looks cool, especially when the individual tilting heads are all joined up and rotating in a smooth gradient or spots.
  3. DDJ-GRV6 – With the press of a button you can easily create remixes, completely changing the drum beat of a track or taking out the lyrics to put a song into a different genre. DJ-ing is hard but this makes you feel like a proper master of the trade.
  4. ILS Command – This was the first product profile I ever did at Leisuretec, and it’s pretty cool. Part of Chauvet’s DD ILS Series, it’s really user-friendly for anyone with little or no lighting background. The press of a button will change the colour of the lighting without having to play with different fades.

If I could invent a new product to add to our range...

I would invent a flying mirror ball that can either be remotely controlled like a drone or set to an automatic flight mode. Taking it a step further, why not add a smoke/haze machine to it to make a ‘Flying Mirrorball Smoke Machine’. Now that would be cool!

My secret weapon

The ability to work on different projects at the same time, whether that’s creating a graphic, editing a video, or on-boarding a new brand from an Excel import. I’d say I’ve got pretty good knowledge of a variety of software.

My favourite thing about working at Leisuretec

I’ve been able to grow and improve my skillset in photography, editing, graphics, content and videography, and I’m still learning. I’ve always liked the creative process, there are no set rules so you can make what you want of it.
